Sentinel Railcar

A Sentinel Railcar drifts into the station, past the railway cottages. This model is the 6 cylinder variant.

The railcar is a NU-Cast whitemetal kit with a Tenshodo Spud motor bogie. The Spud bogies are fairly reliable in use, but do require occasional cleaning of the pick-ups, which involves dismantling the bogie. Fortunately this is not too bad a task. These models are reasonably easy to build but the castings for the steps are very fragile and easily damaged. The roof is supplied in two halves - it is best soldered together using low-melt solder and a temperature controlled iron. A bit of filling and filing is required to hide the joint.
