Coal Trade

coalman

The local coalman bags his load and stacks it on his cart. It was common practice for the LNER to allow the Station Master to buy and sell the coal delivered to the coal drops. Some commentries suggest that this trade was often more than the salary he received for his official duties.

The horse and cart is a Langley Models kit, the 20ton hopper (loaded with real coal) is a Slaters Kit, and the weighbridge hut a (temporary) Wills kit.
