Hetton Colliery Railway Diarama

HCR

This is a small static diarama, depicting part of the industrial heritage of the North East in the 1960s.

In the Barnes area of Sunderland, the Hetton Colliery Railway passed through a series of tunnels and cuttings on its way to the coal staithes at Sunderland. This little diarama in 2mm/ft depicts the cutting behind the Barnes Hotel. Some of this route can still be traced on foot, but the tunnel entrances have long been blocked up.
